The Patrick administration said the move is the state's "largest-ever contract for installation of solar power." The joint contract with Nexamp Inc. of North Andover and Florence Electric of Taunton could create about 100 jobs while helping the environment through expanded use of clean energy, said Ian Bowles, Patrick's secretary of energy and the environment. The projects at the 12 facilities are expected to be completed between June 2010 and July 2011. Once completed, the facilities could also save about $650,000 a year in energy costs. The solar equipment's production of 4.5 million of kilowatt hours of energy is enough to power about 600 homes, the governor's office said. Source: bostonherald.com
